Who is Family-UP Discipleship Ministry?

 

This one-of-a-kind ministry (aka summer-long "VBS on Steroids") existed in the Willamette Valley from 2011-2016, providing weekly family discipleship events around Bible study & memorization resources.  For our final year running the summer program, we used LORD'S ARMY: Basic Training Manual.

 

ABOUT FAMILY-UP LEADERSHIP

Glenn and Linda Davis headed up this ministry with the support of many wonderfully-gifted volunteers.  Their passion for family discipleship was kindled in 2010 by their own family's participation in the National Bible Bee.  That summer, the nearest local encouragement / support group was over an hour away, so in 2011, they took a leap of faith and started a new local group in Salem, followed by 3 years in McMinnville, and finally landing in Turner, where they were blessed to promote family discipleship in families from Vancouver, WA to south of Eugene!

Though writing a Bible study was not a planned endeavor, God's hand of preparation is clear.  With degrees in English and education, Linda was equipped to serve as a contributing writer and lead editor on women's Bible studies published by a local church.  Along with this training, 20+ years in Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) has grounded her in knowledge of the Scriptures and discernment as to what makes meaningful and discussable Bible study questions.  Finally, being a K-12 homeschooling mom has given her hands-on experience with all levels of young people, wonderful training for the writing of a multi-level Bible study!    

 

ABOUT THE STUDY EDITOR

An engineer by trade, Glenn has an eye for detail.  Combined with a love and thorough knowledge of the Scriptures, his godly wisdom, insights, suggestions, and revisions have been invaluable on this project.  Glenn also led our pilot team in the testing, editing, and revising of this study.

As parents ourselves, we understand the daunting responsibility to guard our children from errant doctrine and to vigilantly shepherd them to know THE truth.  We have tried to candidly provide answers to questions/concerns that you may have.  We happily welcome other conversation that may prove helpful to you as you seek trustworthy tools to help you train your children to know, love, and serve the Lord of the Bible.  It is our passion to come alongside fellow Christian parents and cheer them on to fulfill this exceedingly awesome call of God.
